Mother's day edition: Interview with Eloïse Lecluyse

In honor of Mother's Day, we had a little get-together with
newborn mommy Eloïse Lecluyse and talked about
motherhood, selfcare and... jewelry!

Tell us a little bit more about yourself….

I’m 30 years old, I live in Brussels (Saint-Gilles) with my husband, but grew up at the Belgian coast, we moved here for work. I work in marketing and have a passion for fashion, beauty, interior and everything else esthetically pleasing.

You just became a mom for the very first time, congratulations! How is life as a newborn mommy?

Life made a 180° turn. Becoming a mom has been the most difficult and challenging thing I have ever done, but at the same time, it’s also the most fulfilling. Cliché, but true. The first days are a blue, I wish I could relive them in a more mindful way, as the weeks and months go by, you learn about fears you never had but also about new strengths you didn’t know existed in you.

Quarantining with a newborn must present its own set of unique challenges. How are you handling the current situation?

Until now, I didn’t really mind that we couldn’t see a lot of people. With my baby and my husband, I have everything close by that I need. I enjoy our routines and the peace and quiet for myself when the baby sleeps.

Even in between taking care of your baby, doing this shoot and maintaining a social life, you still seem to find the time to put together amazing outfits. Any tips?

During my pregnancy, self-care became more important to me than ever. I can only give energy to other people when I feel good in my own skin and when I take time to take care of myself. Now that the baby is here, I make sure that I don’t neglect this. I need to put energy and love in myself to be able to give love and energy back to my baby and my husband. I’m also a firm believer that the mother instinct works best if the mother feels at her best. What gives me energy? Taking a bath, having a hot cup of coffee with oat milk, picking a nice outfit and posting it on Instagram, being inspired by others, doing my nails, putting on make-up, … I know we don’t have a lot of time as a new mom, but these are things that don’t have to take a lot of time and can give you the energy you need to get through another crying session or sleepless night.

When it comes to accessorizing, what is the ultimate piece every woman should own?

A nice handbag and some statement jewelry will do it for me.

You’ve been wearing Souvenirs de Pomme for a couple of years now. What are your absolute must haves from our collection and how would you style them?

I LOVE using the chain necklaces as a belt on an oversized blazer, but also as a necklace to dress up a sweatsuit.
